Ngawadj

Ngawadj is one of the languages of the upper Murray River in South Australia.

It lies east of Ngayawang, and north of the closely related language / dialect Ngarkat and west of the closely related language / dialect Yirawirung (and Ngintait across the Victorian border).

Barmerara Meru (group at Barmera), Eritark (Nganguruku term), Meru (general term, means ‘man’, applied to several groups), Muljulpero maru (a group), Nanait (misprint), Narwejung, Narwijjerook, Nar-wijjong, Nauait, Ngawad (used by AIATSIS), Ngawadj, Ngawaijung, Ngawait (used by AIATSIS), Ngawaitjung (language name), Ngawijung, Niawoo, Nja-watjurk (Maraura term), Nutcha, Nyauaitj, Nyauaitji, Wem:ara (Ngaiawang term).
