Nganampa Wangka Radio
Nganampa Wangka (meaning ‘Our Language’) is the Mobile Language Team’s radio show hosted by our Aboriginal Language Worker Karina Lester. Karina is a Yankunytjatjara woman from the far north west of SA, and the show’s name Nganampa Wangka comes from the Pitjantjatjara / Yankunytjatjara language. The radio show has been running on Radio Adelaide since March 2010, and brings to the listeners great music from many Aboriginal artists and songs sung in traditional Aboriginal languages.
The weekly program aims to give insight into the many different languages and projects operating within SA and provides an opportunity for Aboriginal people to speak about the importance of keeping their languages strong and alive. The program also talks about important language issues and upcoming Aboriginal events right across the state.
Tune into Nganampa Wangka every Friday on Radio Adelaide 101.5 FM from 2-3pm.
